We can actually remember well with unlimited storage in our brain but most of us always have challenge to memorize.Įxample, please do your best to memorize the following objects without using any tools like pen and paper:ġ. One of the good examples that I can demonstrate is about our memory. Hence, it is essential that we must learn new skills or technologies that help us to pick up information or knowledge effortlessly or we need to find ways to make our brain understand what we need to learn/know. We are now in 21st century where we have to realize that the world is evolving at rapid pace so fast that most of us have challenges to cope with the knowledge or skills that we need to acquire. Parents should also allow them to discover their potentials in different areas and to follow their dreams. SK Tan said, “If you think positively, you will attract positivity.” Since our brain capacity is very stagnant, SK Tan reminded that parents should educate their children since young and not when they are older. In sum, this shows that parents can be so influential to children. To demonstrate, he showed a video of parents that displayed disrespectful behaviours in public in the presence of their children who also emulated the action of their parents. Children always set their parents as an example and often follow most of the things that parents say or do. “Positive words would help them do better in everything,” he justified. He highlighted that parents should always use positive words with their children and try not to say negative words that might demotivate them. ![]() Furthermore, parents should instigate the power of the subconscious mind in their children so that it can drive them to attain their goal. He also shared the importance of words used by parents on their children. Children should be constantly motivated when doing something even though it is the littlest things as this inspires them to do better in everything they perform. SK Tan further elaborated that parents should trigger their children to be positive as the choice comes from parents and also the environment. As individuals, one should strive to attain these best things in life. He also stated that the most difficult job to do in the world is to think and the toughest thing to do in life is to be happy. He further explained that parents should never restrict their children’s imagination instead they should foster creativity and allow their children to imagine. He then quoted, “When you put in the right effort, you will get the right reward.” He added that time is a scarce resource and that parents must utilize the time wisely to educate their children. Children should be aware of what is happening around them so that they would be able to answer questions,” he stressed. “Parents should never allow their children to say that. However, at the end of the day, parents should always ask them, “What have you learnt?” and “Was it good or bad?” This can help the children to analyse what they have watched and learnt from it, and also help them to differentiate between good and bad. Other than that, majority of the children as well as youngsters tend to say “I don’t know” whenever a question is posed. He stressed that parents play the most important role in children’s life. Surprisingly, he encouraged parents to allow their children to watch television programmes. According to SK Tan, nurturing children with a positive mindset will help them to achieve great heights in their lives and help them grow into a confident person. The talk was jointly organised by the Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement, UTAR and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College in conjunction with the 13th Malaysia Festival of the Mind. The talk focused on the concepts and approaches to bring up a positive child. SK Tan sharing ways to guide and nurture a child positivelyĪn illuminating talk entitled “ Raising Positive Child with Brain-in-Mind” was delivered by SK Tan on 16 July 2017 at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Kampar campus.
